Take learning to new heights
Learning, from the day we are able to understand things, is always hanging on the lips, I don’t know why we want to study, for whom? It was only as I grew older that I gradually understood the importance of learning.
During the student phase, how to study correctly and how to study well have become a very important topic in the growth stage. Generally in the learning style, there are both cognitive and emotional levels. From a cognitive perspective, a learning style can be defined as a “system of learning strategies and knowledge acquisition” to provide “the most appropriate learning conditions and environment”. From the emotional level, the emotional characteristics such as motivation, attention, and personality in the learning style will occur before cognition, thus forming the corresponding learning type.
Learners learn through different methods and use different learning styles or learning strategies according to the characteristics of their innate and surrounding environment. Personal traits and preferences are formed through the genetic structure and character development of learners and continue to develop through learning motivation and adaptation to the learning environment. At this point, learning styles change over time, but learners’ preferences don’t change easily.
Each of us is unique, everyone has different personality traits and special learning styles; The type of learning affects the ability to learn and the mindset of the individual, shaping our lives. Knowing your individual learning type allows you to improve your learning efficiency and revive your good grades by finding the most suitable learning style!
Learning Theory 1: Learning Style Theory - Gerry's Onion model
The characteristic of the Gerry model is that the theoretical characteristics of each layer are inseparable and closely related. From the inmost center personality style theory to the outermost theory of teaching preferences, there are all connected, and one layer influences the next. Furthermore, the more the theory is internalize, the more stable and difficult it is to change, so it is difficult to be influenced by teaching. Theory that is more externalize, is more unstable and susceptible to the environment, and relatively easy to change. The Gerry onion model includes almost all relevant learning style theories, and later theories can almost be grouped into one of the layers. The model consists of three layers. In the inner center layer, learning style theory is based on the cognitive personality style of the learner, which is the style of basic personality characteristics. Middle layer – the style of which information is collected and processed, and the outermost layer – the style of interaction and academic preferences in the course and its environment.
Learning Theory 2: KOLB's information perception and information processing, four learning styles structured by two dimensions
Kolb believes that the way a person perceives and processes information in the learning process determines how he learns. This learning style theory is based on the theory of experiential learning, using new experiences to continuously improve the thinking system formed by the previous experience, this process can be known as “learning”, and the learning process cycle consists of four interrelated links – concrete experience, abstract generalization, reflective observation and active experimentation.
First, learners observe and reflect on their concrete experiences in a variety of ways, then draw conclusions through an abstract cognitive process, and finally act on that conclusion. Each link does not occur spontaneously, because the individual has different degrees of preference for the four links, thus showing different types of learning styles, namely “divergence”, “assimilation”, “concentration”, “Conformant”.
About Individual Learning Type Reports
The “Individual Learning Type Reports” is based on the analysis of five dimensions and ten learning types, allowing you to have a more comprehensive and thorough understanding of your thinking patterns, learning habits and characteristics.
